Call for Presentations Process
Q: What is the deadline to complete a submission?
A: The Call for Presentations for the SCAADAC Annual Conference is now open and the submission deadline is July 1, 2020. Submissions must be made via this form.
Q: What topics will be considered by the SCAADAC Conference Committee
A: SCAADAC will consider informative and inspiring topics related to the core counseling domains, peer recovery topics and trends in treatment. Particular interest will be of topics focusing on experiential practices and their impact on the treatment and recovery process. SCAADAC conference attendees appreciate hearing contemporary issues and presentations that are interactive and include case studies, work sheets and examples that can be used when providing services to clients.
Q: What is the presentation length?
A: Minimum of 90 minimum; maximum of 3 hours.
Q: What is the presentation schedule?
A: Presentations will be slotted Sunday, December 6 in the afternoon; Monday, December 7 in the afternoon; or Tuesday, December 8 in the morning.
Q: How many attendees attend the presentations?
A: SCAADAC expects 100 attendees. Breakout sessions will be going on during Sunday and Tuesday, so attendees have options that best suit their needs and interest.
Q: What information is required to submit a proposal?
A: Presentation description, learning objectives, counseling domain covered, audience level, speaker details to include name, employer, title and email.
Q: Who reviews the submission?
A: The SCAADAC Annual Conference Committee includes counselors and peer recovery support coaches.
Q: When will submitters be notified.?
A: The SCAADAC Conference Committee will notify submitters of presentation results no later than August 10.
Speaking at the SCAADAC Conference
Q: How is the meeting room set?
A: Each room will be set classroom style and include screen, LCD, podium, and microphone.
Q: Will presentations be videotaped?
A: SCAADAC is planning to videotape a selection of the presentations and requests that all speakers give SCAADAC permission to videotape and make the videotape available for viewing post conference.
Q: Do presenters receive a stipend or any compensation?
A: Presenters do not receive a stipend. Presenters will receive complimentary conference registration plus one night at the conference venue covered by SCAADAC.
